Yesterday was a fun day. I did some sun printing and GELLI printing with friends. This was my first try at sun printing. I am going to try this again. I left space above the vases because I want to thread paint some flowers in them. This is all gelatin…
I had a request for some of my “girl cards”. I truly love making them but they require a mindset all their own. I actually start with the dresses and shoes and fuse them onto fabric. At this point they are just floating clothes. Then I start thread painting –…
Three times this weekend Sharon Wasteney, Charlotte McDonnell and I gave a trunk show/lecture on design, fabric dyeing and painting and GELLI printing. All three were well attended which lets me know that we are not the only quilt rebels around! Very successful and fun event. Thank you to everyone…
I made this Easter table runner using Selvages and thread painted bunnies. The background is linen. And I finished this kitty and puppy quilt done in 1930’s reproduction fabrics for a special baby boy. And a cute zipper pouch and pin cushions. Now I can see the bottom of my…
The results of a fabric dyeing day with my friend Sharon Wasteney. It is a lot of work to dye fabrics but these old linens came out so beautiful. Thank you Sharon for sharing your talent. This Easter table runner has bunnies peeking out from selvage baskets stitched onto linen.…
My name is Susie Black and I live in the beautiful Rockport-Fulton community in South Texas. I am passionate about anything fabric related - sewing, quilting, embroidery, fabric painting and especially fabric collecting! I love vintage fabrics, old linens, old samplers, hankies and neckties and I am always trying to incorporate these things into my work. I am a big believer in out of the drawer or attic and into the present where the memories these items invoke can come out and make new memories. It is my pleasure to share my ideas and enthusiasm with others.
