In this class you get the chance to work with neckties. We will make the two necktie purse in less than 30 minutes and get a good start on the one necktie purse. I will also bring other necktie items for more ideas. These are small but a great conversation starter and a good way to upcycle a necktie or two. This is a three hour class.
Supply List: Two necktie purse – two neckties about the same width (length doesn’t matter) that you like together, thread of your choice (it does show), cording or rattail trim about 42″ long (if you use rattail you may want to double it), heavy duty Velcro dots -I have used both sew in and stick on with no problem, and an embellishment for the front -large button, pin, flower
One necktie purse – one necktie the wider the better, 1/3 to 1/2 yard lining fabric, knit interfacing enough to back your necktie 1/2 yard should do a couple of ties, 1 1/2 yards of small cording for your handle, 12″ of 3/8″ elastic, button or pin for embellishment.
you will also need your sewing machine, basic sewing supplies (including scissors instead of rotary cutter), thread, a good seam-ripper to deconstruct the necktie and a small safety pin to run the elastic through the casing.
Note: do not de-construct before class. The ties totally stay together for the two tie purse as does part of the tie for the one tie purse.
